Who said disco can’t be heavy? In 1979, Paul Stanley came home after a night of dancing at Studio 54 and decided to write his own “126 bpm hit”. It’s got such a great groove. The bassline contrasting with the guitar parts creates a brutal yet funky feel. The original is awesome, but I think it’s the live performances where I think I Was Made For Loving You really excels. Especially drop tuned, it chugs along like a tank. The KISS Symphony performance is probably my preferred version, not so much because of the orchestra, but the overall energy of the night, plus the outstanding condition of Paul’s voice.
